"Consider this outfit from a month ago an ode to the yuletide season...."
After a major change in my current life, there was a sudden urge to revolve my existence around series of shows. For weeks I've consistently followed the likes of Scream Queens, Amazing Race; caught up with the final season of ANTM, binge-watched on two seasons of American Horror Story. As shallow as it may seem, this was how I positioned myself for more or less four months. It was nothing fancy nor intellectually helpful, rather it fed my lazy and bored self. Just for people's information, most of these shows I have constantly followed for weeks just recently ended it's plots and I am now left with my Thursday fix, which is Murphy and Falchuk's fifth installment of American Horror Story, the Hotel.
Not that I'm letting you in a paragraph of amateur review about the series, not gonna happen, but maybe a consideration for the fact that a drawing inspiration for this shoot was the Hotel. without the doorless hallways, secret passages, and of course no dead bodies hidden under torn bed sheets. But I'd want some Liz Taylor on the front desk, clad in the most sequined dress and face done with that Cleopatra eyeliner (I have so much love for Denis O'Hare and his character). Anyway, I've always wanted to do hallway shoots at hotels, although I have in a previous post now long gone, I wanted to do it in a much better way, something that shows a mood and tells a "story".
Not to the horror of many or myself, no, this is not a horror-tale post about monsters lurking in the shadows or worst in your hotel rooms. Rather, it is the horror of a make-do holiday post as I was unable to shoot looks from our Christmas party, the eve and the actual day. So, consider this outfit from a month ago an ode to the yuletide season. Clad in a neutral palette, I tried to keep the entire look as monochrome as possible, paving way for prints to the forefront. This is all about the embroidered tea set and "Teatime" typography; the pinstripe which we now know is on the brink of oblivion for next trends. But pinstripe or no pinstripe, this print will always be one I'll love wearing. Now that Christmas is done and over and we will have to face the coming days with unknowingness, there is only excitement surrounding me. It is a fast-paced life and this year is drawing to its close.
Merry Christmas / Feliz Navidad everyone, hope you enjoyed your Christmas day like I did. Sending you all warm virtual hugs.
